Power Load Monitors

M-10   M-20

Design Features

The Viking Power load monitors provide a simple, cost effective, state-of-the-art method to monitor pump and system problems and alarm or shut down the pump when a change of load is detected at the motor.  They are applicable to positive displacement or centrifugal pumps, as well as other types of motor-driven equipment.  They are especially useful for pumps which are susceptible to damage due to dry running, such as sealless magnetic drive pumps.

The M-10 monitors can be set to detect either an underload condition (indicating dry running or cavitation) or an overload condition (indicating overpressure* situations).  The M-20 can detect both underload and overload conditions.  The monitors are capable of handling both 50 and 60 Hz power, single or three phase, on loads up to 999 HP.

*Note: The power load monitor should not be used as exclusive protection in case of sudden discharge line blockage on positive displacement pumps.  Other means of protection such as a pressure relief valve must be used in conjunction with the power load monitor to avoid pressure spikes in the system.
